TOP 100 FILM REVIEW #2 - The boy in the striped pajamas

TOP 100 FILM REVIEW #1 - JAWS

Jaws was a film released June 20, 1975 and directed by Steven Spielberg and the story was written by Peter Benchley. When a girl is mysteriously killed one night on the beach in —, head police officer — tried to investigate what caused the death. After finding the body he realizes that it was a shark attack. — tried to tell the mayor of the town that everyone cannot go in the water but it is almost the 4th of July and they get lots of tourists and he doesn’t want to close the beach because then they would lose lots of money. After another attack happens the beach shuts down and the search for the shark continues. Multiple times other sharks are found but it is not the 25 foot great white that had been causing the deaths. So the shark hunt begins…

I liked the plot of the movie. It is a classic and it had a few jump scares that got me and made me scream a couple times. I liked that the plot always kept you on edge. Every underwater scene scared the crap out of me and the music was so classic that I was very nervous until the very end. I did not like that the shark looked very fake. You could see that it was just a prop because the eyes did not really blink and the mouth never closed. It was always open! When the shark tries to come onto the boat, you can see that it was made from rubber because it flaps in the way that a sharks skin should not. I know that it is ridiculous for me to say this because it was filmed in 1975 and visual effects were ahead of its time and even now in 2019 it can be a challenge to make effect like that. The music was happy at times when they were all going out on the boat or when the ending (not gonna say it!) finally occurred. There was the classic Jaws music when the shark was always around. Sometimes you could see the lights through the reflection of glasses but the underwater and night scenes were well lit. There were not many pan shots unless it was the boat moving or conversation to conversation between different groups of people or beach shots.

I would definitely recommend this film. It is a classic and really shows where all of the rip off shark movies came from or what they who they were basing their stories off of. I had never seen this movie before and it showed me how films were mad back then and how different they are today. It showed me the process of cinematography through the years. The movie really drew me in and kept me guessing. In the first scene when the first girl gets eaten, you know that some sh*t is about to go down. 10/10 recommended to anyone who likes thrillers, jump scares, and action. Oh and of course sharks.
